Interview of Terry H. O’Neal by Alighting Design Magazine

　　柏林時間17：00，筆者提前到達OSRAM展位，展現在眼前的是一片人頭攢動，擁擠指數橙色預警。該現象一度成為L+B熱鬧如昔的有力佐證。

　　At 17:00, Berlin time, when I arrived at the OSRAM stand, what was in front of me could be exactly described as “people mountain, people sea”. It was so crowded that had reached the indexof orange alert, which became strong evidence of the sustained prosperity of the L+B.

　　兩年一屆的德國法蘭克福照明展是國際上專業領域內最重要的展覽會。OSRAM攜旗下OS(LED器件)、Siteco(燈具)、Traxon(智能解決方案)、Clay Paky(舞臺燈具)等品牌共同占據2.0館的大半江山。同時，將其欲拆分的傳統照明及鎮流器部門(CLB)和LED等及系統部門(LLS)成立為新公司LEDvance參展。采訪前一天的新聞發布會現場，幾位CEO頻繁的表示歐司朗“into the internet thing”，展位上一句“Welcome to smart city”彰顯主題。

　　Light + Building in Frankfurt, a biennial exhibition, is one of the most important international exhibitions in the professional field. OSRAM together with its OS (LED devices), Siteco (lighting), Traxon (intelligent solutions), Paky Clay (stage lighting) and other brands occupiedhalf of the Hall 2.0. At the same time, the new company LEDvance, consisting of original CLB , LLS , LLS and other departments,for the first time participated in the Light + Building.The day before the interview, Several CEOs indicated that OSRAM was into the internet thing in the press conference .Welcome to smart city, the logo on the stand, showed its theme.

　　等見到O’Neal先生時，展館已進入派對模式，樂隊的演奏聲聲入耳，連訪談也變得輕松而自由起來。

　　When I finally met Mr. O’Neal, it was party time of the exhibition. The band was playing the soft music. Our interview became light and free.

　　開場是慣例的詢問他關于ORSAM中國區業務的表現以及對中國市場的看法。O’Neal的回答積極而樂觀，表示ORSAM照明業務在全球表現出穩中有漲，但各區域變動系數增大，唯中國區的業務成倍增長，一枝獨秀。其中，LED燈具取代傳統的通用照明是重大原因。OSRAM甚至在2015年11月宣布擬投資10億歐元在馬拉西亞建立新LED半導體工廠。與此相對應的是，整個法蘭克福照明展，包括ORSAM在內，傳統的通用照明展示僅占10%左右，對比2014年法蘭克福照明展時與LED分庭抗禮，不可同日而語。

　　I started to ask him about the Chinese market. O’Neal was quite positive and active, he said, the global lighting market for OSRAM was grown by 10% last year. Although different areas preformed in quite difference, the Chinese market was doubled, which wasexquisite. The growth in LED lighting played a great role. Last November, OSRAM even announced an investment plan of 1 billion Euros to build a new LED semiconductor plant in Malaysia. We can also see through the L+B that the shows of traditional general lighting products were only around 10 percent of the fair, which was quite different from the L+B 2014. Nowadays,LED products are the dominant.

　　O’Neal表示，中國市場見證了OSRAM從一個燈具及元器件制造商裝變為全面的照明解決方案供應商。在中國市場，OSRAM主要專注于辦公、零售、娛樂與體育，以及工業四個領域，相信這四大領域還有很大的潛力，未來也將持續專注于為這四個領域的客戶提供解決方案。

　　“China market has witnessed our transfer from lamp and component manufacturer to a comprehensive lighting solutions provider including lamps, control system and software research.” said O’Neal. “That was a major transfer of OSRAM and will be our developmental pattern in the coming future”. OSRAM Lighting Solutions focus on four areas: Office, Retail, Entertainment and Sports, and Industry. He said, “We focus on these four customer solutions because we realize a great potential in these fields.”

　　談及智慧城市，O’Neal認為智能照明解決方案是未來照明技術創新的方向之一。他說“作為全球照明領導者，我們的使命是提供最好的智能照明解決方案，為人們的生活提供便利、安全和舒適。”一年多前推出的LIGHTIFY系列產品， OSRAM目前已經投入量產，在中國市場也開始被運用于智能家居領域。而今年的展會現場，OSRAM也展示了最新一代的道路照明控制系統，可以通過開放的標準實現燈具與網絡的無線連接。通過集成的傳感器，路燈不僅可以提供有效照明，還可以識別并報告開放停車場所，有效管理停車場所等服務。內置的智能無線組件與集成天線令戶外燈具朝智慧城市整裝待發。

　　Talking about smart city, O’Neal considered it as a direction of technological innovation in lighting in the future. “As a global leader in lighting, our mission is to provide the best intelligent lighting solutions for peoples lives to provide convenient, safe and comfortable.”he said. The LIGHTIFY series has been put into mass production, and into the Chinese market as used in the field of smart home. Also OSRAM Lighting Solutions has presented the latest generation of its Street Light Control System, which wirelessly connects luminaries in a network on the basis of the open internet standard IPv6 in L+B 2016. Through the integration of additional sensors, the streetlights provide not only efficient illumination, but also identify and report open parking places, facilitating efficient parking space management and other services. The intelligent radio component in theoutdoor luminaire and an integrated antenna make the luminaires smart-city-ready.

　　長期與設計打交道，筆者更關注OSRAM與設計師的互動，以及在工程領域的表現。O’Neal以武漢兩江四岸景觀項目為例，解釋OSRAM會在項目之初開始介入，為整個規劃及各個建設階段提供支持，以實現高品質、創新的照明效果。OSRAM照明解決方案不僅提供定性的技術，還有可靠的專業團隊，能夠開發出與客戶需求匹配精準的解決方案。

　　For dealing with the design for a long time,I am more interested in the interaction between OSRAM and designers, as well as the performance in the field of engineering. Take the Wuhan project as example. O’Neal explained that OSRAM supported the entire planning and construction phases right from the beginning, to achieve high quality, innovative lighting.OSRAM Lighting Solutions provide not only with qualitative technology but also with a reliable team of experts that areable to develop solutions matched precisely to customer requirements.

　　O’Neal笑著說：“我們與設計師的關系很友好，會舉辦類似Moodify的交流活動。OSRAM在全球范圍設有產品及照明基礎知識等內容的培訓，希望在不久的將來也能在中國大陸啟動類似的培訓計劃。”

　　O’Neal smiled and said “We are closed to designers and hold events like Moodify Night to get better communication with designers.” He indicated that OSRAM had training coursed based on global level and which might launch the mainland in quite near future.
